Reduce Carbon Emissions With More Sustainable Glazing
92% of our Sekurit Service windshields are manufactured in our Europe where we have improved significantly our sustainability performance reducing the carbon footprint of our products.
Indeed, thanks to our initiatives, in terms of operational excellence and also switching 100% of our plants to green electricity, we reduce our windshield footprint by 34% *1. Today, a 15 kg windshield manufactured in our Estonian plant has a carbon footprint for its production of 31 kg CO2 eq. *2
Our ambition, is to build on this momentum and achieve a footprint of 26 kg of CO2 equivalent by 2030.
See our journey beside.
To do so, we have a clear and ambitious roadmap involving improving our plants, our packaging, collaborating closely with our suppliers as well as developing low carbon logistics but also leading to circularity.
This will lead a significant change!

The Carbon Footprint of Windshield
Let's have a step back and loot at the entire cycle of a windshield to identify our improvement area. As we can see, more than 50% of our windshield carbon impact is now related to flat glass production.
Thus, our objective is to improve the flat glass manufacturing by increasing recycled content of flat glass which will drive significant CO2 reduction.
For instance, by reintroducing back 1 ton of cullet (broken glass) will leads to a reduction up to 700kg of CO2 emissions (scopes 1, 2 and 3)*3. It can also save 1.2 tons of raw material !
That’s all the aim of Sekurit Circular service !
